CHILION achieves a new milestone in PFCS clean fire suppressants — micron-scale fire suppressant granules have completed their first production line and entered mass production.

These micro fire suppressant granules use micro-capsule coating technology, encapsulating fluorine shield (Perfluoro(2-methyl-3-pentanone), C₆F₁₂O) in micron-scale capsules. When ambient temperature reaches the trigger threshold, the capsule shell ruptures and the agent is released. ODP=0, GWP=1 environmental properties, residue-free after discharge, non-conductive and non-corrosive.

The granular form's advantage: unlike patches which have shape constraints, granules can be flexibly embedded inside various electrical devices. A few grains inside precision instruments, scattered inside communication cabinets, filling gaps between battery modules — anywhere there's space.

Initial production will supply precision electronics, communication base stations, and new energy storage applications. Together with PFCS patches and injection molded sleeves, they form CHILION's complete fluorine shield fire suppression product matrix.

Where Micron-Scale Fire Suppressant Granules Are Used

Granules target three application scenarios where a flat patch cannot fit. First, PCB cavities: the granules are placed directly around high-heat components such as MOSFET banks, voltage regulators, and battery charging ICs. If a component overheats, the granules rupture and release clean agent directly into the cavity, suppressing the fault before it propagates to the surrounding board. Second, sensor housings: the granules protect against thermal runaway inside lithium primary cells used in IoT sensors.

Third, battery cell headers: the granules are placed at the cell header to provide millisecond-scale response to internal short circuits. This is particularly relevant for energy-storage installations that use lithium iron phosphate cells, where the time from internal short to thermal runaway can be as short as 30 seconds.

Storage and Field-Handling Considerations

Micro-capsule products have a well-defined storage and field-handling regime that operators sometimes underestimate. The capsules are pressure-sensitive and should not be stored in high-vibration environments. The acceptable storage temperature range is -20 to +60 degrees Celsius, with continuous storage above +45 degrees shortening shelf life. Field handling rules: do not drop the canister, do not stack more than three canisters vertically, and rotate stock using first-in-first-out. The shelf-life rule is the one most often forgotten, and operators who rotate stock correctly report a useful life of 36 months; those who do not, report 18 months.
